This week, we examine the UK's soaring rail prices, finding that prices for UK passengers are now 5x those in France when considered in terms of household expenditure per kilometre travelled. As our Chart of the Week shows, this gap widened markedly in the 20 years from 2000-2020, during which time rail prices in France have remained relatively flat.
