Over the last twenty years, the seven largest private developers in the UK paid £15.7 bn in dividends to shareholders.
Executive Summary
The seven largest private developers in the UK paid £15.7 bn in dividends to shareholders over the past twenty years. Critically, half of this total was paid out in the last five years alone. In 2021, researchers at Sheffield Hallam University found that the pre-tax profit made by developers for each completed home nearly doubled to £63,000 between 2005 and 2017.
